Today we have the pleasure of joining the crew at First Coast Living to do a segment on Entertaining your Guests for Tailgating. Below are some of the tips we encourage you to remember when hosting a tailgate and this week, the Jaguars are hosting Pittsburgh, so beer brats it is. Check out this great recipe. I made them myself and know it’s an easy and successful recipe. Wishing you a great tailgate and GO JAGS!
Monica’s Tailgate Tips:
- Arrive Early
- Bring a Tent to identify your space, protect your food
- Folding tables and disposable tablecloths (make for easy cleanup)
- Sports chairs
- Food & Drinks (make it potluck so that you aren’t responsible for everything)
- Tailgate Supply Bin: Plastic Forks, Knives, Spoons, Paper Towels, Plates, Cups, Wipes, Trash Bags, Toothpicks, Extra Serving Utensils, Condiments, Extra Trays, Real Knives, Cutting Board, Barbecue Utensils, Ziploc bags, Aluminum/Plastic Wrap, Wine/Bottle Openers
Don’t forget sunscreen in sunny FLA – it’s hot here through October. Cuzi’s are a nice touch and some games (corn hole, a football, frisbee) or music are a good addition. And in case a guest eats too much, some antacid might be a good thing to throw in your bin.

Excited for the new year and all the new weddings. We are offering all brides who book consults with us this month a 10% discount of any package (starting with weekend planning packages). We are so excited for all of you and can’t wait to get to planning. Happy New Year!
I recently had the honor of helping coordinate 2 weddings, the groom in each is a very good friend of mine. First in August, my friend Ryland married his beautiful wife Kelly. I am so happy for them. They had an intimate sweet wedding at the San Marco Preservation Hall and a dinner reception at Matthews. Six weeks later I helped with my friend Jim’s wedding to his beautiful wife Adrienne. They were married at Nocatee Crosswater Hall on the Lawn with a reception in the hall following.
It’s always interesting working for friends. Expectations can be higher and sometimes the situations get a little too comfortable and outside of the work zone. I found it challenging as well as exciting to play a role in each of their weddings. Something I learned is to always remember it’s a job. Even if it’s your best friend, treat them as a client at all times when planning and keep their needs at the top of your list, just as you would any other client. Try not to get into the comfort zone, or things may slip, yet you tend to hold yourself to a higher standard when working for friends and family.
I am proud of both of them and grateful to have participated with both of my friends’ special days. It’s something I will never forget.

We had a great time yesterday on First Coast Living discussing the upcoming Jaguars season and how to have a great tailgate. Check out the link. Thanks to Jennifer Corrente of The Chef’s Garden Catering.
Just wanted to say what a great wedding we had this weekend. I’m trying to post pics, but still learning how to do, so we’ll see if it works. These are my amateur phone pics. Will post professionals when they are ready. We had a great time at Walker’s Landing and great vendors – Perfect Pear Catering, Liz Stewart Flowers, McGee Entertainment, Art N Illusion Photography, VideoProjex videography, Catered Cocktails, Classic Cakes… I’m sure I’m forgetting someone. This was a beautiful day at one of my favorite venues. I’m a big fan of the natural feel of Walker’s Landing and you always get a great sunset. Enjoy!
It’s been a crazy month. I usually go on vacation in January as it is one of the slower months in the wedding business…. sometimes I forget that just because we don’t have weddings to work that day, there is always planning and upcoming events that we have a lot to work on.
I am back and going full steam. We have a lot of weddings coming up and a lot in the Amelia Island area. Always happy to visit the Island, and we are happy to go to St. Augustine as well. Never hesitate to ask about travel.
I will be on First Coast Living again Monday, January 28 talking about Superbowl parties. And then we are on again February 11 talking about Valentines Day. It’s that time of year – engagement season and we can’t wait to hear all the exciting stores.
Hope your year is off to a great start!
I’m so excited to finally have a new website. Thanks to Heather Canada for helping me enter the new millenium. My goals with my website are to keep it simple, informative and to help you with your party planning. I do a lot of weddings, but love all types of party planning. If you ever have a question about a party, email me and maybe I’ll use it for a blog post.
Next big thing for TO-DOers is my appearance on First Coast Living, December 27, 2012 with Shea Hopely, one of my favorite florists.
I hope to blog each week to keep you (and me) locked in on what’s new, what’s happening and what’s crazy in the party world.
Thanks for checking us out!
